Question Time: Assembly Commission Tuesday 24 November 2015

Members of the Commission answered questions on defibrillators in Parliament Buildings and the summer 2015 flag security breach during today’s Question Time. Commission member Samuel Gardiner revealed that there are five defibrillators in Parliament Buildings located in the front reception, the control room, the Blue Flax restaurant, the Long Gallery and the fourth floor, south corridor. “The Assembly Commission is committed to ensuring that there is a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation, and there are 18 staff trained in the use of defibrillators.” The equipment is tested weekly to ensure it is fully operational and displays the Commission’s commitment to a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation.

Caitriona Ruane then updated the House on the investigation into the flag security breach at Parliament Buildings in June 2015. The PSNI concluded its investigation in mid-September 2015. However, despite enquiries, no persons have been made responsible and the PSNI has indicated that it can take the matter no further at this time.

Commission members also answered questions on the number of visitors to Parliament Buildings, tour content, the Gender Action Plan, outsourced services and the lighting of Parliament buildings for good causes.
